I've now got my turtle habitat for the 4 turtles I've got ( 2 albino male red-eared sliders and 2 regular color female red-eared sliders).  I've got them out in the garage which is heated, but not warm.  I would imagine it gets to around 60 degrees when it's really cold outside.  They seem to be doing very well, and filling out nicely.  I just put a florescent fixture above the tank, and suspect I may have some algae in the form of green water in the near future.  That won't be all bad, if I can get some daphnia to grow out there.  keep the algae under control, and provide a live food supplement for the fish.  If I get really lucky, the turtles may breed for me this spring.  That will be interesting if it happens.  I've got a couple containers of sand and coconut fiber for them to lay the eggs if they are so inclined.

So far no breeding activity that I've seen (and no eggs).  The albino sliders are starting to look a little green from all the light.  It really shows up on their yellow shells.  I did put a cannister filter on the tank, and the water is staying really clear.  They are eating well, and seem to like un-cooked shrimp really well.  I've been told they like a lot of vegetable in their diets too, so I've been adding Romain lettuce, and they do seem to like it.

The green on their shells disappeared after I added a real basking bulb instead of just a regular light bulb.  Once they got back inside after being outside for the summer, they don't seem to attack the Romain lettuce like they used to.  Still looking for an adult female albino, though.   Denny
